While in the program our participants will focus on the importance of
personal commitment to changing early patterns of risky behaviors, attendance, punctuality, and responsibility in a job or
school setting; and the potential to make significant changes in a participant's life.
In our Multi-Media Arts Workshops, participants
will learn the skills needed to create an alternative to risky activities thru multi-media. For example:
The Music/Video/Fashion/Graphic Studies course teaches the basics of rhyming patterns, stage presence, air
control, mixing, writing lyrics and recording/video production and editing of musical projects, clothing construction, and
business management with extensive involvement of both peer and 1 on 1 mentoring.
In
order to participate in the above component of the program, students must maintain a “C” grade average and completion
of initial phase of program which includes mentoring/tutoring, life skills training, health & wellness workshops, teen
pregnancy, STD, drug & alcohol, gang, and violence prevention components.
The 2819
Group program provides a fun & educational environment ultimately providing participants with a place where they can gather
with peers, grow & ultimately share what they have learned with community.
The 2819 Group is a 6-12 month program depending
on the participants’ needs. We are aware that some participants might need additional or less time in the program to
be successful, therefore the timeline will be adjusted accordingly.
